Startups In Asia

20120203 - Startups in Asia

Attended a startup conference which focuses on technological startups in Asia. It offers an insight on the entrepreneurial and startups scene in Asia.

For the past decade, global attention has been shifting towards Asia. Global companies have been turning to Asian markets to open new doors and capitalise on opportunities.

The world of tomorrow is one that is diverse and cross-cultural – East meet West. Two very different ideologies and culture but its fusion could create new sparks.

Currently, China, Japan, India, South Korea are the bigger players in Asia. Hopefully, in the near future there could be more from South East Asia. As of now, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam are on the rise.

Personally, I see the future in South East Asia. Instead of us, skipping to China, US or Europe, why not knock on the doors of our neighbors and collaborate?

Teabox Sensors

20120128 - Teabox Sensors

Lately, we have been introduced to a sensor system called the Teabox. The Teabox offer lots of possibilities of integrating physical computing and interaction. It is able to work with MaxMSP and it gives Interactive Media artists more options.

I got my hands onto the sensors and experimenting with them. Here’s a diagram created to identify the different sensors I borrowed.

Constructivism-Inspired Info-graphic Design

20120127 - Constructivism-Inspired Info-graphics 01

I came across these Japanese info-graphic designs which were really good. Inspired by the Constructivist approach, these were created with geometric shapes, lines, visual path and labelled with a color coding system.

It is quite systematic but in a nice and neat way that suits art with technology and new media.

The style could be applied in web design and I think a Constructivist website will be really cool.
