Print-Making
I spent the evening in the school’s print-making workshop. This is my first attempt at print-making using the linopad. I created the design from my photograph of the famous Henderson Teochew porridge stall. I converted the photograph into black and white and flipped it horizontally, before tracing onto the linopad. After which, I used the wood-carving tools to carve out patterns. It was quite straight-forward but it allowed the learning of positive and negative space.
Looking back at this design, I should have reduced the positive(white) areas, so that the black and white does not look so balanced. But what is done, cannot be undone. I would hand this up tomorrow morning.
The Perfect Sunny-Side-Up (Work-In-Progress 2)
I borrowed the D40X from my school again to re-shoot my story-telling assignment. I named it – “The Perfect Sunny-Side-Up.” Previously, I used the iPhone 4 and was disappointed by its print quality. Not that I despised the iPhone 4, but DSLR is definitely in a league of its own. High-resolution, great for product shots. So this time round, I guessed it should be better quality prints. As for iPhone 4, I will keep it for my street shots.

Sunny Side Up
If it looks real, then I probably succeeded. I used a Ping Pong ball, a toilet roll and a magnifying glass to create this glossy and delicious looking egg. Probably, lost of appetite by now.
I spent the whole day, taking photographs in the kitchen. This project is about telling a story with images. My story consist of 8 images so this is just one composition. My presentation will be on Tuesday. I will probably upload the rest after the presentation.
