Singapore vs Brazil Match Report

Just came back from the match. Final scoreline is Brazil 3-0 Singapore (goals by diego, ronaldinho, jo)

Overall it was a good match by both sides. I thought Singapore played very well in the 2nd half and created a few good chances, except the finishing. Singapore played very defensively and compact, with counter-attack using long-ball. Brazil played their trademark one-touch play and one-twos as usual, with occasional long ball…

I arrive at Kallang Stadium at 6.30pm, it was already crowded at the gallery luckily my brother’s friends help us occupy seats. Below is the view of the grandstand from my seat:

Singaporean fans and the Brazilian fans waiting for the match to start.
One more hour to kick-off. The sides of the stadium not occupied yet.

Kick-off

Match begins.

Some match action from my memory just now :)

First half

Brazil starts off very offensively, all-out attack, leaving only 2 centre-backs behind. Typical brazil as usual. Ronaldinho was deployed as playmaker, but seems like a free-role while Lucas played the “makelele” position. Anderson and Diego roam just outside the penalty box playing one-touch passing and one-twos to split Singapore defence. While Pato waits for a through-pass. He is also supported by Marcelo and Rafinha, two full backs who joins attack at all opportunity.

On the other hand, Singapore played very defensive and compact, with men behind ball. Singapore had a few good chances initially, when they exposed the 2 brazilian centre-backs-who join in the attack and did not recover in time. But just lacking the finishing. Otherwise Singapore could score 1 or 2 goals.

Diego scored by shooting into the bottom corner of the net after some passing combination in front of goal.

Ronaldinho scored by hitting on a rebound in the box.

By first 25 minutes, it’s 2-0.

Second half

Pato was kept quiet throughout his game, and was caught offside a few times. He did little impact and was eventually substituted.

Later Jo came on to lead the attack. He plays like adebayo and they are both around the same height, except Jo is more mobile and has better finishing. He came on in the 2nd half, had one chance and scored.

Towards the end of the match, the introduction of Qiu Li gave Singapore more speed for counter-attack, but again the finishing was not there. During the game, i was hoping to see ronaldinho doing his tricks but he did not show much, probably he was lacking match fitness. So i think the real ronaldinho will return at Beijing. Overall, it was a nice match but not as exciting as Singapore vs Ubekistan.

Final whistle

Final score 3-0

Is this the last match at Kallang Stadium before it is upgraded?
